The company's objective was to change the operating system of its Oracle database server from AIX to Oracle Linux on Exadata to obtain:
- Better performance, since Oracle databases run better with Oracle Linux;

Solutions
The Transportable Tablespace migration method was used, which is especially useful for migrations between different operating systems. This method is much faster than a conventional data export and import because it is not necessary to unload and reload the data. With this technique, it was possible to migrate a 20 terabyte database to the new operating system.
